The Alzheimer’s Journey: An Evening of Support, Education and Encouragement for the Newly Diagnosed & their Families

Featured speakers include: John Stoukides, M.D., R.Ph. & Janice DeFrances, Ed.D.

Dr. Stoukides is Director of the Division of Geriatrics & Palliative Care at Roger Williams Medical Center. Dr. DeFrances was the primary caregiver for her mother during her journey with Alzheimer’s.

First Sunday
First Sunday of April, May & June from 1 – 4:30 p.m.
Hope Alzheimer’s Center

A free respite care program designed to support caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other progressive memory disorders. Caregivers can spend an afternoon to themselves, away from the rigors of caregiving, while their loved one enjoys an afternoon of structured activities at Hope Alzheimer’s Center.

Program will be staffed by Hope Center employees who are skilled in providing care to people with memory impairments, plus volunteers from St. David’s Episcopal Church and Bishop Hendricken High School. Activities may include: gardening, outdoor walks, music, art, crafts, cooking, tai chi, yoga for seniors, exercise and many others.

Registration: Pre-registration is required at least one week in advance. Space is limited to 25 people. Call Hope Alzheimer’s Center at (401) 946-9220.

Fees: First Sunday is offered at no cost with funding from the National Family Support Program. Participants need not be enrolled at Hope Alzheimer’s Center.

Hope Family Network
Second Thursday of every month from 2 – 3:30 p.m.

You are invited to join ~ free of charge ~ our Family Network that offers a variety of educational resources and support. Together, we can manage the challenges of memory loss. All sessions are lead by specialists in the field of Alzheimer’s disease and other memory loss conditions. Time is reserved to answer any of your concerns or questions.

Day care services are available to participants who pre-register. Reserve your spot by calling Melanie at 401-946-9220.

Hope Alzheimer’s Center 2016 Charity Golf Tournament, Honoring Mr. Walter Lada, Sr.
Valley Country Club, Warwick, RI ~ Monday, June 20, 2016

This year’s golf tournament is in honor of Mr. Walter Lada, Sr. who has been a tireless supporter of Hope Alzheimer’s Center since his late wife, Mary, was a participant. The fruits of his kindness and generosity are evident throughout the center, but particularly with the beautiful outdoor therapeutic gardens. Mr. Lada has been such a beloved part of the Hope family for so many years, and we are pleased to recognize him for his extraordinary efforts on the center’s behalf.

Highlights of the tournament include:

  • 8 a.m. shotgun start
  • Light breakfast
  • Complimentary beverages on the course (beer and water)
  • Sponsorships available for golfers and non-golfers
  • Luncheon reception with golfing and raffle prizes

2016 “Building Hope” Soiree
Friday, September 23, 2016 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Hope Alzheimer’s Center.

The “Building Hope Soiree” is the signature fund-raising event for Hope Alzheimer’s Center. This year, it will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Hope Alzheimer’s Center. Business leaders and community members will join together with caregiver families, past and present, for an elegant evening featuring art work that celebrates the lives of those living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of memory loss. There will be a live auction, silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and music. We will also be picking the winner of our $5,000 cash raffle. For more information, please call Gina at 401-946-9220.
